PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes) is a label that certifies that wood comes from sustainably managed forests and promotes environmentally friendly, socially beneficial and economically viable forest management.
Created in 1999 on the initiative of 12 European countries, PEFC is now the world's largest certification system, covering more than 224 million hectares of certified forests and involving all stakeholders in the timber sector (owners, industries, users, etc.). As a consumer, you can play your part in protecting forests by buying PEFC products, which guarantee that the wood comes from forests that are managed in a responsible manner and have been harvested and processed with the same ethical standards.
